2020 Taiwan Research Grant Program and Fellowship for OAU Lecturers

The 2020 Taiwan Research Grant Program is open to OAU lecturers to benefit from next year's Centre for Chinese Studies (CCS) research grant program. The program is for foreign professors, associate professors, assistant professors (including post-doctoral researchers) and doctoral candidates in departments related to Chinese studies in your university, to conduct advanced research at universities or academic institution in Taiwan.

The research is expected to focus on Taiwan or Chinese for a period of one to twelve months, with CCS providing assistance with research institutions, and the use of CCS facilities, etc. In addition, the researcher is further assisted with one round-trip, economy-class ticket for the most direct route to Taiwan and monthly research subsidy at the beginning of each month, divided into four levels: Professors, associate professor, assistant professor, and doctoral candidate.

The actual amount of the research subsidy is reasonably determined by CCS Advisory Committee.

The yearly Taiwan Fellowship opens in May for OAU staff and other qualified academicians in Nigeria interested in pursuing researches related to Taiwan.

The fellowship offered by the Ministry of Foreign affair of the Republic of China (Taiwan) is for Scholars and Researchers to conduct advanced research at the universities or academic institutions in Taiwan. The application process will begin in May 2019 and close on June 30, 2019. The successful applicant will begin their research in Taiwan in January 2020.

The researches subject should be related to Taiwan, cross-strait relations, mainland China, the Asia-Pacific region, and Sinology. Eligible candidates include Professors, associate professors, assistant professors, post-doctoral researchers, doctoral candidates, or doctoral program students at related department of universities, or research fellows at an equivalent level in academic institutions.

The Taiwan Fellowship welcomes interested Nigerians candidates who are encouraged to log on to http://taiwanfellowship.ncl.edu.tw to fill out the online application form, before the June 30, 2019 deadline.

The recipient of the Fellowship will benefit as: monthly grants of NT$60,000 about US$2,000 are paid to professors, associate professors, researcher fellows; while assistant professors, assistant research fellows, or doctoral candidates are paid NT$50,000 about US$1,650, at the beginning of every month, during the research period expected to last between three to twelve months.

Secondly, a recipient is further assisted with one round-trip, economy-class ticket for the most direct route to Taiwan.
