The Vice-Chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede, has expressed the appreciation of the University’s authorities to the Medical and Dental graduands of 2002 for giving back to their alma-mata.
He expressed this during the commissioning of a newly renovated multi-disciplinary Medical Pathology Demonstration Laboratory at the College of Health Sciences, noting that what the alumni have done solved a part of the challenges the college had.
Professor Ogunbodede who seized the opportunity to appeal to other sets to think of other things they can do for the college, charged the group to think of the academic development they can offer the university, promising that the University authority will always give the project the deserving maintenance, even as he appreciated the Provost of the College, Professor Kayode Ijadunola, for seeing to the completion and proper handling of the project.
Similarly, the Provost, Professor Ijadunola, expressed happiness to the 2002 alumni for renovating the laboratory, adding that with the completion and commissioning of the laboratory, there is no other laboratory unrefurbished in the College as other laboratories have been refurbished.
The leader of the class of 2002, Dr. Segun Badejoko thanked God for enabling them to fulfil their dream eighteen (18) years after graduating from the university, adding that about a year ago, the class reunited and renewed the bond among them which is their shared high esteem for Ife Medicine and its role in their careers.
He announced that the renovation of the laboratory, which gulped the sum of five (5) million naira, was the first phase as they intend to adopt the laboratory for the next three (3) years (2019 – 2021) for ongoing maintenance and upgrades, including investments in up to date technology.
