The Vice-Chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede has restated the commitment of his administration to accept partnerships that would be beneficial to the University.  He stated this while receiving a delegation from the First City Monument Bank, South West Zone, led by the Regional Manager, Mr. Adeleye Adelaja.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed the pleasure and readiness of the University to do business with FCMB, describing the bank as one of the consistent banks that had played major roles in the banking industry in the country under a leadership with tested, proven and trusted track record.

He noted that the University authorities have a history of dealings with banks on the campus.  The University has a designated banking area with ten (10) banks.  Each of them has a unique relationship with the University.  Really, we would love to partner with the FCMB on the issues of financial assistance to indigent students, hostel accommodation, and staff housing scheme.  This administration is committed achieving all these”, he said.

Responding, the Bank’s Regional Manager, Mr. Adeleye, stated that it was the Executive Chairman of the Bank Chief Olasubomi Balogun, who expressly instructed in Ile-Ife.  He said the branch will soon commence operation.  “We deemed it fit to pay a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor to open up a channel of engagement with the University.  Our bank has many projects and programmes that can be of great benefit to the Obafemi Awolowo University.  Although we are not here today to discuss business but we would go and look at areas where we can partner with the University.  It is not the best to go for housing scheme through Commercial Banks because of the high loan interest; but on the issue of financial assistance to indigent students and other novel ideas, we will send our proposal to the University soonest”.
