Print Email
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede, has solicited the unalloyed support of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) for the University’s Radio Station, Great FM – 94.5, even as he appreciated the regulating agency for its past guidance and contributions to University’s efforts at having a Radio Channel that will advance the frontiers of knowledge through impactful broadcast of teaching-learning programmes.

The Vice-Chancellor who made this appeal in his remark during a brief reception held in his office for a visiting team from the NBC, further informed his guests that the University is at an advanced stage of its plan to commence a program in Media Studies with the support of the Chairman of Troyka Holdings, Mr. Biodun Shobanjo, who is providing a veritable pedestal for the program not only to meet academic standard but also industry requirement.

Professor Ogunbodede noted that the radio channel would greatly enhance the quality of the academic programme as students would have first hand practical experience of radio broadcast; adding that the University is working assiduously to attract good hands from the industry as faculty staff of the new programme.

Responding, the leader of the NBC delegation, Mr. Raphael Akpan, commended the University for operating strictly within the permit it obtained for the radio station as an educational radio channel, stating that the team is glad to observe that the station is still on-air and doing well almost two decade after the grant of its operational licence.

He assured the Vice-Chancellor that the NBC is ready to do the needful to assist the University in the effort to actualize its plan to commence a degree progamme in Media Studies. Other members of the team were Mr. Ibraheem Tajudeen and Mrs. Ayodele Brown. The team was led by the Coordinator of Great FM – 94.5, Professor Lade Adeyanju, to the Vice-Chancellor’s office.
