Department of Mathematics Celebrates the International Day of Mathematics (IDM)

The International Day of Mathematics is a worldwide celebration. Each year, on 14th of March, all countries are now invited to participate through activities for students, researchers, and general public in schools, museums, libraries, and other spaces.


The International Day of Mathematics is a project led by the International Mathematical Union with the support of numerous international and regional organizations. The IDM was proclaimed by UNESCO during the 40th session of her General Assembly on 26th of November, 2019.


The Department of Mathematics, Obafemi Awolowo University has put together activities and resources to flavour the IDM celebration as well as spark creativity and bring to light connections between Mathematics and all varied fields of human endeavor; and everyday activities. 


To nurture a teaching and learning community; advance frontiers of knowledge; engender a sense of selfless public service; and add value to African culture.
