The Honorary Degrees Committee will meet very soon to start consideration of recommendations for award of Honorary Degrees of the University at the 2018 Convocation.
In accordance with the procedure laid down by Senate, nominations should be invited from members of the University as defined in Statute 2 and should be forwarded under confidential cover direct to the Vice-Chancellor. Nominations should be adequately documented and should satisfy the established criteria for award of an Honorary Degree of the University.
The criteria for nomination are:
- outstanding academic achievement and recognition in a field of learning such as teaching, research and academic administration;
- unique contribution to Arts, Culture and Literature in national and international spheres;
- outstanding achievement and contribution to public and national interest in Business, Civil Services, Judiciary, Commerce, Industry, and eminence in the professions.
All members of the University who wish to make nominations are invited to submit their nomination as soon as possible to reach the Vice-Chancellor not later than Thursday, 8th November, 2018.
