The Vice-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede, has described an alumnus of the University, Professor Oluyinka Olutoye, as a fantastic advertisement of the medical college of the University.
Reacting to the news of the appointment of Professor Oluyinka Olutoye as Surgeon-in-Chief of Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Ohio, United States, the Vice-Chancellor said the University is proud to associate with the medical feat.
The Vice-Chancellor congratulated Professor Olutoye saying the University is elated and honored by the news of a worthy alumnus being given such a responsibility in the Diaspora.
The Managing Director and Chief Medical Officer at the hospital, Richard Brilli, had remarked that, “management were tremendously delighted to have Dr. Olutoye’s experience on their team to further elevate the visibility and reputation of one of the best overall children’s surgical programs in the country that through its clinical care and research, is forging the future of children’s surgery.
“Having a world-renowned fetal and paediatric surgeon join our leadership team will further advance Nationwide Children’s commitment to establishing a preeminent fetal surgery program.”
The appointment of Professor Olutoye, who had previously served as Co-Director of the Fetal Center and the immediate-past President of the Medical Staff at Texas Children’s Hospital, took effect from August 1, 2019.
