Professor A. J. Farinde

FARINDE, Akinloye Jimoh is a Professor of Agricultural Extension and Rural Sociology. His research focus has been on Programme Planning and Evaluation of Development Programme; and Communication of Improved Agricultural Technology to Farmers in Nigeria. To date, he has published more than 95 articles in reputable national and international journals, books and conference proceedings. As lecturer, he has trained more than 25,000 undergraduate and 250 postgraduate students. He has supervised about 200 undergraduate dissertations, 17 M.Sc. and 21 PhD theses. Currently, one M.Phil. and two M.Sc. students are under his supervision.
Professionally, he was External Examiner for undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in four universities and for 67 M.Sc. (theses) and 12 Ph.D. theses in Nigeria and abroad. He was External Assessor for the establishment of 15 professorial chairs in Nigeria Universities. He is a member and Fellow of Agricultural Extension Society of Nigeria (AESON); Rural Sociological Association of Nigeria (RuSAN), Children in Agriculture & Network Programme (CIAP); and Nigeria Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (NIFAAS).
Professor Farinde has served the Obafemi Awolowo University in various statutory committees such as Undergraduate and Postgraduate Degree Programme Review Committee, Faculty of Agriculture Board & Board of Examiners, Business Committee of Senate & Senate member, Appointment and Promotion Committee (A&PC), and Cognate Deans of Faculties. Ag. Head (2004 -2006), and Head, Department of Agricultural Extension & Rural Development (2008-2014); Vice Dean, Faculty of Agriculture (2004-2006); Chairman, Internship Programme (2003-2005) and Hall Master, Muritala Muhammed Postgraduate Hall, (2008-2010), Communication Officer for OAU Science & Technology Education Post Basic Project (STEP-B PROJECT) (2008-2016), and nationally, Member, Technical Advisory Group (TAG) of Tetfund Book Publication, Tetfund, Abuja, 2014- 2016. He was the Pioneer Coordinator, OAU Driving School and Driver’s Licence Centre. And Immediate Past Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, OAU, Ile-Ife. He is currently the Principal Investigator of a Tetfund National Research Fund (NRF) Project titled “Conversion of Rabbit Wastes into Bio-fertilizer, Bio-pesticide and Bio-herbicide for Crop Production”. Lastly, Professor A.J. Farinde is the Global Pioneer President, OAU Agriculture Alumni Association (OAUAAA) since 2023. He is now one of the four Representatives of Senate in Council.
