Prof Emmanuel Taiwo Oladipupo Babalola, MNAL

Emmanuel Taiwo Oladipupo Babalola is a distinguished professor of English (Grammar and Contemporary English Usage) at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. He earned all his degrees from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and was recruited as Graduate Assistant at the Department of English of the same University in 1998, and thus began a very productive career in academics which culminated in his promotion to the rank of professor in 2013.
Widely travelled and highly cerebral, ETO Babalola whose academic publications have appeared in reputable journals in countries such as United Kingdom, United States of America, China, India, Germany, Poland, Norway, Puerto Rico, Ghana, Nigeria, etc., is presently the Head, Department of English, OAU, Ile-Ife. He is a language consultant who is widely sought after from within and outside the country. He had served under Governors Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Rauf Aregbesola at the Education summits organised during their tenures.
Within the University, he had served as President, Awovarsity Cooperative Investment and Credit Society Limited, (2013-2015), Hall Master, Adekunle Fajuyi Hall (2008-2013), Chairman , PTA, Obafemi Awolowo University International School (2016-2021), among other notable positions.
Prof. Babalola had participated in numerous training programmes for English language teachers organised by SUBEB in different locations in Nigeria. He is a member of Nigerian Academy of Letters, where he currently serves as Assistant General Secretary; English Scholars’ Association of Nigeria, serving as the Southwest Coordinator; Linguistics Association of Nigeria, etc.
He is happily married to Dr Adejoke Clara Babalola and they are blessed with two boys, Ayomide and Ayodeji.
