On April 6, 2024, Professor G.A. Aderounmu, received the prestigious Award of Africa Outstanding Scholar of the Year on Technology. The honor was bestowed upon him by the Global Skills Hub, United Kingdom, during the 2nd Africa Education Summit held at the University of Nottingham, UK.
Prof. Aderounmu is the Centre Leader of the World Bank Sponsored Africa Centre of Excellence at Obafemi Awolowo University ICT-Driven Knowledge Park (OAK-Park), and has previously held positions of Dean Faculty of Technology, Head, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and Chairperson of several strategic committees in the University. His service outside academia has also seen him lead the Nigerian Computer Society (NCS), the foremost gathering of Nigerian Computing and ICT professionals.
Themed “Entrepreneurship and Skills Development in the 21st Century Education System: The Africa-European Perspectives,” the summit served as a platform for fostering dialogue, collaboration, and innovative approaches to education across continents. Professor Aderounmu’s recognition was a testament to his remarkable contributions to the field of technology and education, particularly in driving entrepreneurial skills development.
