Osunbitan to Present OAU’s 399th Inaugural Lecture

Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, is set to hold its 399th Inaugural Lecture on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at 5:00 PM, at the renowned Oduduwa Hall. The lecture will be delivered by Professor Jimmy Akinfemi Osunbitan, a distinguished academic in the field of Soil and Water Engineering.

Titled “Making the Soil and Water Environment Conducive for Plant and Man”, the lecture will explore the vital intersection between environmental sustainability and human survival, particularly focusing on how proper management of soil and water resources can benefit both agriculture and human development.

Professor Osunbitan, whose career spans decades of impactful research, teaching, and innovation, will draw from his vast expertise to present forward-looking solutions to challenges in land use, irrigation, water conservation, and food security. His insights are expected to inspire not only scholars but also policymakers and environmental stakeholders across Nigeria and beyond.
