49th Convocation Play: Madam Tinubu

The 49th Convocation celebrations of Obafemi Awolowo University continue with a cultural anchor that never fails to energize the academic community- the annual Convocation Play.

This year, the University stages Madam Tinubu, a celebrated dramatic work by Akinwumi Isola, bringing historical resonance and artistic depth to the convocation lineup.

Directed by a seasoned trio—Toyin Ogundeji, Babatunde Allen Bakare, and Gabriel Otsemobor—the production revives the commanding legacy of Madam Tinubu, a formidable figure whose political and commercial influence shaped Yoruba history. With stage management led by Kehinde Michael Anjorin, Adewale A. Bamigboye, and Gbenga Emmanuel Adeboye, the performance promises disciplined execution and cultural authenticity.

The play holds on Thursday, 11th December 2025 at Oduduwa Hall, 7:00 p.m. prompt.

It stands as a reminder that convocation is not only a celebration of academic milestones but also a reaffirmation of heritage, identity, and the enduring relevance of the arts in nation-building.
