Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has launched a nomination platform to support the University’s participation in the 2026 Nigeria Tertiary Institutions National Laureate Programme (NLP).

The National Laureate Programme is a Federal Government initiative, convened by the Federal Ministry of Education in partnership with the Nigeria Education Repository and Databank (NERD). It is designed to identify and reward outstanding research, innovation, and scholarly work from accredited tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

The programme covers research at undergraduate, master’s and doctoral levels across six broad areas: Agriculture; Teaching Innovation; Medicine and Health Sciences; Science, Engineering and Technology; Law; and Arts and Social Sciences. Institutions can nominate outstanding works selected through their internal evaluation process.

A total annual prize fund of ₦365 million has been provided for the programme. The national competition will produce 18 thematic laureates, with major prizes including ₦35 million for the Undergraduate Star Prize, ₦50 million for the Master’s Star Prize and ₦100 million for the Doctoral Star Prize.
