The wait is over. The 2026 West African University Games (WAUG) begin today, Friday, 2 October, at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. The Games will run until 12 October, bringing together university communities from across West Africa for sporting competition, friendship, and cultural exchange.

As host of the 15th edition, OAU welcomes student-athletes, coaches, officials, and supporters to Great Ife. The Games provide an opportunity for participants to represent their institutions, demonstrate their abilities, and build connections beyond national borders.

Beyond the competition, WAUG 2026 offers visitors an opportunity to experience the heritage of Ile-Ife and the academic and cultural life of Obafemi Awolowo University. Friendship, respect, and fair play remain central to the Games.
