African International Conference on Transnational Organized Crimes (AITOC 2023)
April 5, 2023 2023-04-05 21:46African International Conference on Transnational Organized Crimes (AITOC 2023)
The contemporary world is changing fast and so is the colouration of crime. Globalization has united nations by literally blurring hitherto formidable geographical boundaries. The handshakes of criminally-minded persons across nations have resulted in the upsurge in human trafficking, organ harvesting, drug trafficking, irregular migration, labour casualization, political instability and money laundering among other things. As the world has been reduced to a global village, no nation is immune to the unprecedented transnational criminality, especially because nations either serve as transit for or host to one form of organized criminality.
In addition, the progress recorded in Information Communication Technology (ICT) seems to have enhanced transnational organized crimes, thereby creating new policing challenges. More than ever before, the new forms of transnational criminality have made compounded policing and global policing collaboration a necessity. In the light of the foregoing, the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, is organizing the 1st African International Conference on Transnational Organized Crimes (TOC) .
