                 POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES

Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the following Postgraduate programmes of the Centre for Distance Learning, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria.

• EXECUTIVE MASTERS PROGRAMMES

Department of Economics

A. Professional Master of Economics Science

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

A bachelor’s degree of Obafemi Awolowo University or other approved institutions in any of the social science fields (Economics, Administration and Management studies; Geography; Psychology, Education (Econs), History /Econs Computer /Econs, Estate Management; Agric Econs and other related disciplines. Candidates for admission to the MPE programme shall normally be graduates of Obafemi Awolowo University or other approved universities recognized by the senate or holders of other tertiary institutions approved and recognized by the Senate.

The applicant shall normally possess a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) Honours degree to be eligible for admission. Candidates with a Third Class Degree with at least two years of working experience if they hold a non-social sciences Degree or only professional qualifications.

 Professional qualification is acceptable in special cases as equivalent qualification if recommended by the Department. 

DURATION

Candidate admitted to this programme will be on course work lectures for four (4) semesters and will undertake a research (long essay) project in the fourth semester.

Department of Architecture

2. Master of Interior Design

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Application is open to graduates of the Obafemi Awolowo University, or any other approved university with a minimum Second Class (Lower Division) Honours degree Degree from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife a graduate or any other University as recognized by the Senate of this University

In exceptional cases, candidates from OAU with a Third Class Degree may be considered under certain conditions as stipulated in the regulations governing postgraduate studies. However, other candidates in the same category with at least 3 years post qualification experience may also be considered.

In addition, applicants must possess university degrees in Architecture or any discipline in the Environmental Design and Management fields. However, applicants with degrees in other disciplines (not in Architecture or any Environmental Design and Management field) who have had at least 3 years post qualification experience in a design firm or a related industry may also be considered for admission.

DURATION

The Master of Interior Design programme (M.ID) will cover a period of three (3) semesters.

Department of Community Health

• Master of Public Health

 ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The MPH programme is open to Medical and other Health Sciences graduates. Candidates with at least a basic professional Degree in Medicine or Dentistry of this University or any other recognized university, with at least 3 years experience in health care programmes are eligible to apply. Other graduates of Health Sciences such as Nursing, Biochemistry, Physiology, Pharmacy and other health related disciplines like Human Nutrition, Demography, Social Sciences, Health Education, Environmental Health and Biostatistics from a recognized university with at least 4 years of post-qualification practical experience in the health field are also eligible to apply.

DURATION

The programme shall last a minimum of two (2) academic sessions.

Department of Real Estate (Business Management)

• Master of Real Estate Management (Executive)

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Admission into the Master of Real Estate Business Management Degree Programme is open to:

• Graduates of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife or of any other approved University who possess not lower than a Second Class (Honour) Lower Division in Estate Management/Land Economy and related programme;
• Candidates with First degree in Accounting, Agricultural Economics, Banking and Finance, Economics, Engineering, Law, Marketing, Psychology and other professions in the Built Environment as well as other allied disciplineswho possess not lower than a Second Class (Honours) Lower Division degree. 
• Candidates with a Postgraduate Diploma in Estate Management or Land Economy or related field with a pass at credit level (i.e. 3.0 of 5.0 point scale), or 50% on weighted percentage average; and
• Candidates with a Third Class Honours Degree in Estate Management of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife but who have had not less than three (3) years post qualification experience.
• Candidates with a minimum of Lower Credit in Higher National Diploma (HND) in Estate Management or Land Economy or related field or other allied discipline and who had acquired the professional registration of the Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria. 

Notwithstanding Section D (i) to (v) above;

• Candidates seeking admission into the Master of Real Estate Business Management Programme will be expected to satisfy the general regulations governing graduate programmes of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
• Intending applicants shall normally have three years post-graduation work experience, preferably in a managerial or supervisory capacity. 

E.        DURATION OF THE PROGRAMME     

The course of study for a Master of Real Estate Business Management programme both online and face to face shall run for a period of four (4) semesters of fifteen (15) weeks each.

African Institute of Science Policy and Innovation

• Master of Technology Management (Executive)

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must have obtained BSc. Degree with a minimum of Second Class (Hons) Lower Division in Engineering, Technology and Science.

Candidates with BSc. Degree with a minimum of Second Class (Hons) Lower Division in Economics, Geography or Social Sciences may also be considered.

Candidates of the Obafemi Awolowo University or any other approved university with a Third Class Degree who have obtained relevant Postgraduate Diploma may be considered. However, other candidates in the same category of a Third Class with at least 3 years post qualification experience may also be considered.

DURATION

The programme shall last a minimum of two (2) academic sessions.

   G.  Masters of Technology in ICT Policy and Regulations

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Application is open to graduates in any of the Engineering Disciplines, Mathematics, Physics and Computer Sciences of Obafemi Awolowo University or any other recognized University with a minimum of Second Class (Hons) Lower Division.

Graduates of a PGD programme in ICT of any other recognized university who have a grade point average of not less than 3.0 on scale of 5.0 or weighted average of not less than 60% can also apply.

Candidates of the Obafemi Awolowo University or any other approved university with a Third Class Degree who have obtained relevant Postgraduate Diploma may be considered. However, other candidates in the same category of a Third Class with at least 3 years post qualification experience may also be considered.

DURATION

The programme shall last a minimum of two (2) academic sessions.

Department of Psychology

     H. Master of Managerial Psychology

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Application is open to graduates of any discipline from either Obafemi Awolowo University or any other recognized university with at least Second Class (Hons) Lower Division Degree.

Candidates of the Obafemi Awolowo University or any other approved university with a Third Class Degree who have obtained relevant Postgraduate Diploma may be considered. However, other candidates in the same category of a Third Class with at least 3 years post qualification experience may also be considered.

DURATION

The programme shall last a minimum of two academic sessions.

Department of Computer Science and Engineering        

   I. Master of Information Technology (Executive)

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must possess a good Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electronic & Electrical Engineering with a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) from Obafemi Awolowo University and any other recognized institution.

Candidates of the Obafemi Awolowo University or any other approved university with a Third Class Degree who have obtained relevant Postgraduate Diploma may be considered. However, other candidates in the same category of a Third Class with at least 3 years post qualification experience may also be considered.

However, candidates with a Third Class Degree of Obafemi Awolowo University or any other recognized University with Three years cognate experience may be considered.

*Applicants who possess a good Degree in other related fields and with proven 3 years cognate experience in ICT may also be considered.

DURATION

The programme shall last for two (2) academic sessions. There are only three contacts in a session.

Institute of Ecology

J.   Master of Environmental Control and Management (Executive)

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Application is open to graduates of the Obafemi Awolowo University, or any other approved university with an honours Degree in Natural Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, relevant Social Science disciplines, Education (Science), Technology/Engineering, Medicine or Environmental Design and Management.

Candidates of the Obafemi Awolowo University or any other approved university with a Third Class Degree who have obtained relevant Postgraduate Diploma may be considered. However, other candidates in the same category of a Third Class with at least 3 years post qualification experience may also be considered.

However, other candidates in the same category of a Third Class with at least 3 years post qualification experience may also be considered.

DURATION

The programme shall last for two (2) academic sessions.

Department of Public Administration

K. Master of Public Administration (Executive)

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

• An applicant for admission to the programme shall be a graduate of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife or a graduate of any other approved University

The applicant shall normally possess a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division)    Honours Degree to be eligible for admission.  In exceptional cases, candidates from OAU with a Third Class Degree may be considered under certain conditions as stipulated in the regulations governing postgraduate studies. However, other candidates in the same category of a Third Class with at least 3 years post qualification experience may also be considered.

Candidates with the following qualifications are also eligible for admission

 (b)     Postgraduate Diploma Degree in Public Administration or any cognate discipline; and/or

Professional qualifications/membership of such institutes as Chartered Institute of Management (CIM), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ICPA), Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM), Association of  Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) and such other recognized professional institutes.  Entry requirements into any of these institutes must satisfy those for admission into First Degree programmes of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

Department of Geography

L. Master of Geographic Information Systems (Executive)

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

An applicant for admission to the programme shall be:

1. a graduate of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, in any of the following disciplines: Geography, Surveying & Geoinformatics, Sciences, Environmental Design and Management, Engineering/Technology, Demography & Social Statistics,  and others who may require expertise in Geo-Information Science;
2. a graduate of any other approved University; or
3. Admission may depend on satisfactory performance at the admission test administered by the Department/CDL/University.

The applicant shall normally possess a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) Honours degree in order to be eligible for admission.  However, candidates with Third Class but with at least 3 years post qualification experience may be considered under certain conditions which include:

1. possession of Postgraduate Diploma degree in Remote Sensing and GIS or any cognate discipline; and/or
2. possession of professional qualifications/membership of such institutes as Surveyors Council of Nigeria (SURCON), Town Planning Registration Council of Nigeria, Estate Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria, Nigerian Institution of Surveyors (NIS), Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP), Nigerian Institute of Architects, Nigerian Society of Engineers, Nigerian Institute of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV), Nigerian Institute of Builders (NIB), Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) and such other recognized professional institutes.  Entry requirements into any of these institutes must satisfy those for admission into first degree programmes of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

DURATION

The duration of the course is two (2) academic sessions covering four-semester duration of intensive coursework leading to the writing of a Long Essay.

African Institute of Science Policy and Innovation

  M. Postgraduate Diploma in ICT Policy and Regulations

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Application is open to graduates of Obafemi Awolowo University or any other university recognized by the Senate of Obafemi Awolowo University in any discipline with a minimum of Third Class Degree. Candidates with recognized professional qualifications approved by Senate (such as COREN, ICAN) can also apply.

DURATION

The programme shall last for a minimum of twelve (12) months.

Faculty of Dentistry

N. Dental Implantology

Admission Requirements

An applicant for admission into the M.Sc. Dental Implantology programme must have satisfied all the general admission requirements of the University with evidence of NYSC and full registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) and shall be:

(i) a dental graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife or

(ii) a dental graduate of any other approved University or

(iii) a person who holds a recognised dental qualification approved by the Senate of the University.

 The Applicant shall have a minimum of two years post-graduation clinical experience in a   dental practice in addition to the Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree.

Steps:

1. Using email address and password of your choice, create an account online via (apply.oaunetque.com). The password created will be mailed to your email account. After creating your application account, click on the form number to continue.
2. The actual filling of Postgraduate Application Form requires 11 steps. Step 1 and 2 requires selection of programme and payment for application form.
3. An Application Processing Fee worth Twenty Thousand Naira (N20, 000) for Professional Programmes has to be paid before each application can be processed by the Postgraduate College. You will be required to specify the programme before making payment. Pay the Application Processing Fee with ATM Card with the (link: pay using remita platform) on your application account. You need to provide your Card Number e.g. 1111222233334444, the Card’s Expiry Date e.g. Jan 2010 and the four-digit PIN and your CVV to make the payment.
4. Steps 3-11 will only be activated after the required payment have been made.
5. You can change the programme of choice in Step 1 only if the application is still ongoing and you have not submitted the form online. You can no longer make any changes to your form if you have submitted. Making any changes at this point will attract a cost and a visit to the Office of the Provost, Postgraduate College, O.A.U. Ile-Ife.
6. Once payment has been received, complete all sections using the left menu as a guide. Cross-check all the details provided for the application and then SUBMIT/CLOSE your online application form.
