FORestore: Empowering Africa’s Future Foresters

Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Nigeria, is a key partner in the FORestore project -Forest Restoration through VET Capacity Building.

European Union-funded FORestore project under the Erasmus+ Key Action 2, aims to ignite change in the heart of Africa’s lush landscapes, where ancient forests whisper tales of resilience amid climate threats. This innovative project bridges critical gaps in Vocational Education and Training (VET) for Sustainable Forest Management.

FORestore unites European expertise from Slovakia, Italy, and Greece with African ingenuity from Nigeria, Cameroon, Uganda, Somalia, and Ghana to equip VET centres and learners with valuable skills in forest management, restoration, deforestation mitigation, and policy frameworks.

The objectives of the project are to acquire, enhance, and exchange knowledge, competencies, and resources to strengthen the capacity of VET systems. Also, the project aims to raise awareness about the importance of sustainable forest management, conservation, and restoration by actively engaging communities in sustainable forestry practices. By providing tailored modules for skills-matching in forward-looking forest sectors, the project will meet the evolving needs of individuals and communities, ensuring their contributions to a greener, more sustainable future.

Join the restoration revolution today.
