As part of its 65th Anniversary celebration, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, presents a Special Lecture focused on “Driving National Development Through Research and Innovation.” The event will feature Arc. Sonny S.T. Echono, Executive Secretary of TETFund, alongside the pre-launch of the ₦10 Billion President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Centre of Excellence in Intercultural Dialogue and Youth Empowerment.

For sixty-five remarkable years, Obafemi Awolowo University has stood as a beacon of academic excellence, intellectual leadership, cultural heritage, and national development in Nigeria and beyond. From its establishment in 1961 as the University of Ife to its transformation into one of Africa’s most respected universities, the institution has continued to shape minds, inspire innovation, and produce generations of leaders across diverse fields of human endeavour.

As the University marks its 65th Anniversary Celebration, the entire OAU community- students, staff, alumni, partners, and friends of the University across the globe- comes together to honour a rich legacy built on scholarship, integrity, resilience, and service. Beginning on June 1, the eight-day celebration promises to be a historic moment of reflection, celebration, and renewed commitment to the ideals upon which the University was founded. The theme for this year’s celebration is OAU @ 65: Legacy of Excellence, Future of Impact
