Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Nigeria, conducted the induction ceremony for the 2023 graduating Medical Rehabilitation students of the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences today the 22nd of October 2023, at Oduduwa Hall.
During the event, The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A. Simeon Bamire, personally expressed his gratitude to all the dedicated staff and lecturers for their exceptional contributions to the students’ education. He offered his heartfelt congratulations to the parents and graduating students for their historic accomplishments. He urged them to become problem solvers, particularly during these critical times in the country, and emphasized the importance of being exemplary ambassadors of their alma mater.
In addition, the Provost of the College of Health Sciences, Prof Babatope Kolawole, extended his warm congratulations to the graduates for their outstanding achievements, making both themselves and their families proud. He further encouraged them to aim for excellence in their chosen profession.
The program continued with The Registrar of the Medical Rehabilitation Therapist Board, Prof. Rufa, Prof. Rufai, congratulating the inductees, and admonishing them to demonstrate competence in their professional skills. He assured them of the unwavering support of the Board throughout their professional journey.
Furthermore, Prof. Mrs. Boladale Mapayi, Chairperson of the College Alumni Relations Office, welcomed the graduates into the College of Health Sciences Alumni Body.
The Class Valedictorian, Arowolo Abdulazeez, shared their journey over the years and how they overcame challenges with the help of those who crossed their paths.
The ceremony concluded with great joy and festivity.

Akinyemi, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research, Innovation, and Development; Prof. Rufai, Registrar of the Basic Medical Sciences of Nigeria; Prof. Omoniyi-Esan, Dean of the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences; Dr. Samson Odukoya, Vice-Dean of Basic Medical Sciences; Prof. M.O. Egwu, Head of the Department, Medical Rehabilitation, among others.
